Results of the target audience research by Kate Parkinson. Candidate number 9204.

Different views on tattoos:

There was a mix of opinions on whether parents have different views on tattoos than children do, however, most people said they did have different views. There was a real spilt in answers for whether people would still get a tattoo even if their parents advised them not to. This has made me think we need to make sure in the documentary we don't make it to encouraging for other kids to go out and get one. Everyone said in their opinions views on tattoos have changed over the years and they are more accepted now. This information will be helpful for reaching out to our target audience as we now know that we can't make it too encouraging to younger kids and also that people are now more accepting of tattoo's therefore more people may be interested in watching it.

Different views on documentaries:

Most people said they enjoyed watching channel 4 documentaries which is good as I did my institutional research on them as I believe they are the best channel for one of documentaries. Most people say that the best documentaries are interesting ones that teach you something, this is helpful as we were going to make the documentary as interesting as possible anyway but now we can put facts in that the audience can learn from. A couple of people said the most interesting topic of documentary for them are social issues which is helpful to know as we planned for our documentary to take a look at how people think of documentaries socially.

From these results we can take that people enjoy interesting documentaries that are not necessarily centred around one person/situation. They also like tattoos but wouldn't  get one if their parents disapproved. Nearly all thought societies views on tattoos have changed over the years. We can take all this information and put it into our planning for the filming and how we will aim it at our target audience.

  1. Can we get some kind of visuals on this? Eg final decisions or pie chart etc - it would be great to see some results that are easier to and quicker to read.
