Male Tattoo Photo Board - Jamie Ellis, Candidate Number 9150

The mood Board I've created is my personal view and opinion on the types of tattoos in our society, their purpose and judging on the size of the image depicts it's prominence.

The large image of the stereotypically attractive male is the main type of tattoo out there and this type of tattoo is to simply look good. It's there to impress and this type has glorified tattoos into being an attractive concept for both men and women, which was a concept in one of the earlier cultures i've mentioned in a previous post.

The next two, equally sized and in opposite corners, are the religious imagery (Holy and Satanic) as I believe these to be the next in the list as being the second most popular. People get these tattoos to show their own faith or to show off a certain passage line or holy idea to others.

These two pictures also represent the arguement between the ideals of Christianity on the subject of tattoos. The Bible says in Leviticus 19:28, "Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the Lord." This line of text is mostly used to dis-courage people from getting tattoos. However, people take this scripture too seriously in my opinion. I believe that this scripture was used to separate god's followers from the pagan worship that was taking place and was meant to stop temptation from appearing to his followers.

My third choice here, is The bottom left tattoo, which depicts emotional connections, emotional meanings and simply a deeper meaning to tattoos that isn't religious. These tattoos are commonplace amongst most people, as it is a memorable way of showing you care about something or someone. If it's about a person, it's generally someone close to their hearts, or someone who's passed away and they wish to show their love for that person.

The 4th image represents fun, things you like and enjoy and want to show people your appreciation for it. This is a different reason than the first image, as the first image is about the attractiveness and shallowness of getting a tattoo to improve your attractiveness. This image is about showing appreciation for something you enjoy, possibly TV shows, music or an activity.

The 5th image in the top right hand corner represents the people who get tattoos, for the sake of it. This could be down to them liking the sensation of receiving one (pain and pleasure response) or the fact that they may be a tattoo addict or that they feel ugly or incomplete and will go to extreme lengths to get a tattoo, hence the reason why it's a tattoo covering the man'
s head.
